Warrant Officer Options

 

Army Warrant Officers are composed of two categories:  Aviation Warrant Officers and Technical Warrant Officers.  Each have unique qualifications required to enter the Warrant Officer Cohort.

 

Aviation Warrant Officers

 

To become an Army Aviation Warrant Officer, applicants must meet all of the minimum eligibility requirements listed below.  You must also apply for the District of Columbia Army National Guard Warrant Officer Flight Board and be selected for by a panel of Aviators for Warrant Officer Flight Training.

 

Basic requirements

 

- Must not have reached your 33rd Birthday prior to initial appointment as a Warrant Officer
- Be a U.S. Citizen.

- Achieve GT Score of 110 or higher.

- Achieve a minimum score of 40 or higher on Selection Instrument for Flight Training (SIFT)

- Meet medical standards based on a flight physical (Chapter 4, Class I).

- Pass the standard three-event APFT.

- Meet the mental, and conduct requirements outlined by NGR 600-101 and AR 40-501.

- Attain minimum of a Secret security clearance or be able to attain Top Secret if required for qualification in the WO MOS.

Technical Warrant Officers

 

To be an Army Technical Warrant Officer, applicants must have a feeder MOS, and demonstrate a history of technical ability as well as leadership experience in their field.

Warrant Officer Candidate School

 

The Army National Guard Warrant Officer Candidate School (OCS) program gives you an opportunity to become a leader of tomorrow's Army National Guard. The skills and training that you acquire as an Warrant Officer candidate will help prepare you for the challenges that lay ahead as a warrant officer. As a warrant officer, you will acquire leadership and management skills that are in high demand in the military as well as in your civilian career.

 

WOCS Training Options

 

-State WOCS. The District of Columbia Army National Guard currently has agreements with the Virginia and Maryland Army National Guard Regional Training Institute Warrant Officer Candidate Schools for our Candidates who desire to attend State OCS.  The WOSM can provide additional information about each course during your application process.

 

-Phases of State WOCS.

-Phase 0. The length and period are State program specific.

-Phase 1 is available at RTI locations and consists of five IDT weekends.

- Phase 2 is located at Camp Atterbury, Indiana (summer) and Fort McClellan, Alabama (winter).

-Federal WOCS. To meet the requirements for Federal WOCS, applicants must meet minimum eligibility criteria for either technical warrant or aviation warrant.

M-Day Warrant Officers are eligible for a $20k accession bonus under certain conditions: (FY21 Selective Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP)

 

-Must be in an MTOE unit

-MOS must be under 90% strength (aggregate/state)

-Bonus is paid in two instalments.  First is after completion of Warrant Officer Basic Course.  Second is after completion of 3rd year of service obligation.
